From the recording The Song Within the Song
He Mele Ho‘ohiamoe No Adriane Sage 5:26
(James Romano)
Our friend Eddie Mendiola asked Jim to write this lullaby for his first granddaughter, Adriane Sage. Pili translated the lyrics into Hawaiian. Pu-lama, with Eddie and Pili, first performed this mele at Adriane Sage’s baptism.

Lyrics
He Mele Hoʻohiamoe No Adriane Sage
James Romano (Hawaiian lyrics by Llewellyn ʻUnihipiliowailelepualu Moreno)
A precious gift from God to us
The first-born child, love budding anew
CHORUS
Softer than the rose
More fragrant than the lei
Bringing new life
Happiness in all our days
Always, Adriane Sage
Cradled in my arms, you head nestled to my cheek
Your sweet fragrance fills my heart
I am fascinated now by the glowing serenity
The days, the seasons ahead, like moving pictures
I see the times ahead
Our love is yours
Well cared for
You will be gentle and kind-hearted
Our strength is yours
Joined with heaven, with earth
Standing righteous and strong
Our ancestors are yours
A way of life of loving wisdom
You will respect life
CHORUS
A precious gift from God to us
A lullaby, a name-song, for Adriane Sage
He makana makamae na ke Akua no mākou
Ka makahiapo, e hāliko ana ke aloha hou
